Skylight installation, replacement and repair. Certified VELUX installers. · Auckland, serving nationwide New Zealand

The website does the first half of the quote. The drive to site happens when there is a job worth driving to.

Skylight Experts, skylightexperts.co.nz

Where they were

Skylight Experts install, replace and repair skylights for homes and commercial buildings across Auckland and the rest of New Zealand, from sun tunnels and flashing to leak fixes, all backed by a 10-year product and workmanship warranty. The work happens on roofs, which is the awkward part about the phone. Most of what comes in is not a job yet. It is a question. What size do I need. Can this be repaired, or does it need replacing. Can someone come and look at a leak. Every one of those is answerable, and every one of them costs either a conversation or a trip across town to find out whether there is any work there at all. A specialist trade can only be in one place at a time, and that place should be the job.

What they needed

  • A way for a customer to describe a skylight job accurately without anyone picking up the phone, including what the roof actually looks like
  • The two questions that come before every job, what size and repair or replace, answered by the website at whatever hour they get asked
  • Install, replacement and repair separated from each other at the moment the enquiry is made, not sorted out afterwards
  • Certified VELUX installer status and the 10-year warranty visible where the customer decides who to call, not filed away on an about page
  • A product range customers can look through themselves, across skylight types, blinds and fittings
  • A site that stays up and stays looked after without anyone in a skylight business having to think about it

What it did for the business

They find out what the job is before they drive to it.

The quote request asks for the type of work, the property address, and a photo of the roof. For a lot of skylight work that is enough to understand what is involved before anyone gets in a vehicle. The site visit stops being how they discover whether there is a job and becomes what they do once they know there is one. For a trade business, a wasted site visit is the single most expensive hour in the week. Of the enquiries that arrive, around 4 in 10 come in with a photo attached.

The questions that come before a job answer themselves.

What size do I need, and can this be repaired or does it need replacing. Those two arrive constantly, and neither of them is a booking. The size finder and the guides handle both, including the version of the question asked at 10pm when nobody is going to answer a phone anyway. The result is simple to feel day to day: the phone rings about jobs, not about research.

Every enquiry lands already sorted into the right kind of work.

An install, a replacement and a repair are three different jobs with three different conversations, three different lead times and three different people who should see them. The enquiry chooses which one it is up front, so it routes to the right kind of work before anyone has read a word of it. Nobody spends a morning triaging a pile of skylight questions looking for the ones worth quoting.

Their credentials do the selling at the moment of the decision.

Certified VELUX installer status, the 10-year product and workmanship warranty, and real completed project work sit on the pages where a customer is deciding who to call. Not buried on an about page nobody reads. A homeowner comparing three installers can see what separates them without having to ask, which means fewer conversations that are really just a customer checking whether the business is legitimate.

Customers turn up already knowing roughly what they want.

Skylight types, blinds and fittings are all there to browse. Someone thinking about a skylight can work through the options in their own time instead of being walked through a catalogue over the phone. The conversation starts further along, at specification and timing, rather than at the beginning.

The website is not one of the things they have to manage.

Hosting and upkeep are handled on a monthly plan, and the site has run without interruption through 2026, live and maintained since 2024. Nobody in the business has to notice it, chase it, or find out from a customer that something has broken. The attention stays on the roofs.
